Work Requirements for Public Benefits: New Threats and Ongoing Challenges
Many critical public benefits programs, including SNAP, make getting benefits conditional on work or participation in workforce services. Proposed changes at the federal level may drastically expand work requirements and threaten the benefits of many of our clients and community members in Illinois. In this meeting, we'll review the current state of affairs, discuss Trump's proposed policy, and think through the impacts on the workforce development field and low-income job seekers.
